
On Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, the SAFE (Suicide Awareness For Everyone) Task Force of Allegheny County will host its annual conference, It Takes a Village ... Continuing the Conversation on Suicide at Commonwealth Charter Academy at the Waterfront. The community-focused suicide awareness conference welcomes all stakeholders – community members as well as professionals - to join in a discussion about suicide awareness, suicide prevention efforts, and loss survivor support in Allegheny County.
The SAFE conference provides space for education, collaboration, and empowerment, equipping participants with tools, resources, and connections to prevent suicide, support postvention efforts, and promote hope across Allegheny County.
Call for Workshop Proposals
We are now accepting workshop proposals. Workshops must run 60 minutes in length, including audience Q&A.
The submission deadline is Friday, Sept. 19, 2025. Only applications that are submitted on time and include all required information will be reviewed. Workshop topics include but are not limited to:
- Innovative approaches to suicide prevention and postvention
- Community-led models for suicide prevention
- Supporting survivors of suicide loss
- Lived experience and peer-informed care in suicide prevention
- Youth suicide prevention and intervention strategies
- Faith-based and spiritual approaches to healing after suicide
- Suicide risk in marginalized and underserved communities
- Trauma-informed care for individuals and families impacted by suicide
- The intersection of substance use and suicide risk
- Mental health and suicide risk in BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ populations
- 988 crisis response/mobile crisis teams
- Cultural stigma and barriers to suicide intervention
- Suicide prevention in older adults and caregivers
