The AFSP Facilitator Training Program offers suicide prevention organizers a way to create and facilitate a community support group for suicide loss survivors in the aftermath of a suicide. This course is offered as a two-day training of up to 40 attendees, and includes lecture, interactive discussion, and role-playing

In this talk, Dr. Brooks Stephens will review socio-cultural risk factors for suicide among Black youth and emerging adults, share her research focusing on strengths-based approaches to suicide prevention, and outline essential actions needed to address this public health crisis.

The focus of this free, online training event will be suicide risk and substance use. Participants will learn about the scope of suicide as a public health crisis, the linkages between suicide and substance use disorder, and how to identify these predictors in practice.
